Ericsson and WCC hosted discussion on 5G innovations to fuel Malaysia’s digital economy aspiration


24th May 2017 – Ericsson and WCC had organised “5G Accelerating Digital Malaysia” discussion at Innovation Centre for 5G (IC5G) in UTM Kuala Lumpur to share ideas as well as roadmaps towards advancing local enterprises for global competition in the current digital economy. The event had included panels from industry players, conversing on 5G advancements and modernization.

In the discussion, Malaysia-grown companies are encouraged to embrace the digital transformation that are developing aggressively worldwide. With an apt IT infrastructure, companies could respond with greater agility to the market and grab emerging opportunities to serve customers with better experiences and improved services. The discussion also highlighted the benefits to Malaysian consumers and society with the deployment of next generation 5G system. Ericsson also showcased some of the world’s first 5G prototypes in numerous applications.

In December 2016, Ericsson had partnered with WCC to establish IC5G in UTM to engage local enterprises, institutions and Malaysian sociely at large towards realizing digital innovation, leveraging on 5G technologies.
